Free juice boxes in the hotel? We must not be in America any more...

Hey all! First blog entry, woot woot.

So far I've been in Spain for just over 24 hours and it is waaay different than the US. Everyone speaks Spanish (obviously). But seriously, culture shock x 5 billion. My Spanish is pretty poor, but I'm able to communicate more or less. I feel like I start every sentence with "I don't speak that much Spanish but..." and just go from there.

People seem pretty nice though. My host is SUPER sweet and keeps asking if I'm comfortable or if there's anything I need. She's a single Spanish woman in her "golden years" who can actually speak a little bit of English, so if I'm floundering she can help me find the word in Spanish.

And what about the nightlife! Yesterday after a red-eye flight from Toronto I was asleep by 7 PM. That's right, you're jealous of how hard I party.Everyone is. And then of course I woke up at 4 AM and couldn't go back to sleep. I never understood jet-lag until now, and it is not fun.

But on the bright side, I have not yet been cat-called or robbed, although the 60-year-old taxi driver did call me cute and overcharge me for the ride (creepy and lame).

Overall, I'm super exited for Spanish life! More soon.
